This goes along with the Buddhist idea, that life is a learned reality. Everything we know we have been taught what it is. Can we unlearn this reality?
Good question, it certainly makes us appreciate the moment and try not to impose or engage our thought processes on a situation. So with practice one can fully appreciate reality and experience things as they are, not what we think they are/
Not sure we can ever fully escape our own personalities, senses and subjective viewpoint but I’m sure mindfulness can at least bring us a little closer to ‘truth’.
I keep thinking of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, read most of it but never got to the end, talks a lot about reality and truth. Yes you can never escape our thoughts only our reaction to them. My friend is learning Tibetan Buddhism. she talks a lot about levels of perception
Yes, I read Zen and the Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance many years ago when it was considered cool and alternative. Think I found it interesting but can remember very little now!

Thanks for your thought-provoking comment Alastair. Does mindfulness meditation bring us any closer to what is real?
