Connect!

The Scaraben Writer’s Group is looking for new members who want to share work and ideas in a mutually supportive atmosphere. We are a small, friendly group who meet online via Zoom on the first Wednesday of every month at 7pm, GMT. The 80 minute sessions are split into two with a ten minute comfort break halfway. Everyone is welcome. Please get in touch via my contact page for more details. And in case you’re wondering….Scaraben is the name for a long range of hills in Northern Scotland and I can see them from my kitchen window!

  1. Like the feeling of the photo, group sounds like fun. I do a zoom with retired staff from uni. You just come and go whenever you want, people leave the mic on while they’re arguing loudly with someone in another room. It’s hilarious. I listen while I’m doing something else on the computer. ‘That’s engineers for you. 😸

    1. Why not join our writer’s group??!! Although I’m not sure what time 7pm GMT is in Australia. You are probably sleeping. We may have a member from the US joining – the wonders of Zoom! The photo is an illusion. The landscape was actually virtual on a huge screen and the woman was standing in front.

  2. Thanks for the offer, Nikita. It’s 6am so yes, I’m sleeping. In fact I’m probably sleeping too much 😬 because I’m struggling to do WP even once every 4 weeks. I didn’t realise about the photo, anyway it worked out very well. My photography is a bit on hold, there’s been record-breaking rain and floods in Sydney which makes it hard to get out of the house. Hope the writer’s group is going well. 🧡

    1. Sadly I had to cancel our first meeting because of the war in Ukraine. I have family there so it’s a very distressing time and my life is on hold. Six in the morning would definitely be a no-no for me! I am not a morning person at the best of times although I did this amazing online writing course years ago about darkness where we met at different times in the middle of the night. It was brilliant as tiredness can break down inhibitions and I wrote some of my best stuff. Also bonded with other writers. Sorry to hear about the conditions in Sydney. So much is never mentioned by our media. Stay safe Steve. 🌹😻🌈
