  1. Hi Nikita, love your drawings, they have immediacy and beauty, and they’re clever, like this one. To me, stopping time or going back. Yeah, I know it’s a bell. Oh well. My publisher has reminded me that my contract says I have to do promo.😬 I am, but I’m not enjoying it at all. Thinking of you, and wishing you as speedy a recovery as possible. 🧡💛💚

    1. Thank you so much Steve. The bell drawing was inspired by an old brass school bell the nurses gave me to ring for help because the electric call button was broken. It was heavy and was extra physio! These doodles are an attempt to retain my sanity while trapped in this shambolic hospital- probably a lost battle! But I’m glad people seem to like them. I am planning to buy your book as soon as I return home. Good luck with the promo. I find selling myself never easy but your work is so brilliant that you don’t need to worry. 😊🙏x

      1. You’re very kind, Nikita, but I’m afraid my work is an acquired taste, and there really isn’t an audience. But you know, a few people might get something out of it, and as with you, doing stuff helps me maintain my version of sanity. 😸

        1. It was the same with my own books. Never sold that many copies because I was rubbish at promoting myself. But the glowing feedback I received from my minority fan base was rewarding enough. Any work that doesn’t follow the mainstream trend will have a smaller following at first. I have ordered your book tonight.

  2. This reminds me of my very early school days. Every day a child in my class was given the chance to ring the bell for playtime. We went outside onto what I guess was a fire escape. The bell was on a leather strap and you had to shake it quite hard. I always felt so important when it was my turn!
